U.S. educators searching for standards-correlated lesson this summer need look no further than the SMART Exchange website. SMART has updated the standards listing on our online education community to include the Common Core Standards.

The Common Core Standards Initiative is a state-led effort coordinated by the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices and the Council of Chief State School Officers. Schools in more than 40 states have signed on to adopt the standards, which define the knowledge and skills students should have in English, language arts and mathematics upon graduation from high school. Teachers in these schools will start integrating the new standards into their instruction this year, transitioning over fully to Common Core-based instruction and assessment by 2014. SMART is helping to support teachers in this shift by categorizing classroom-ready content based on the new standards and making it easy-to-find.

Teachers can find the Common Core Standards-correlated lessons on the SMART Exchange under the Standards-Correlated Lessons search. The search results generate a list of the standards by subject and grade level and a list of corresponding SMART lesson resources available. Using the same Standards-Correlated Lessons search, those in states that have not adopted the new standards will still be able to find regional standards-correlated content.

SMART is currently the only interactive whiteboard manufacturer to offer Common Core Standards-aligned lessons on its community site.
