“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.”

~ Benjamin Franklin

Ben Franklin got it right. Receiving proper, ongoing and hands-on training will help you make the most of your SMART products. Professional development (PD) is essential for broadening the scope of your instruction, improving learning outcomes and ensuring the successful implementation of your SMART products. At SMART, we’re committed to helping you develop the skills that will improve the quality of your teaching and the learning opportunities for your students.

An increasing number of educators are realizing that if technology products are in classrooms, then training and PD can’t be a one-shot deal – it needs to be an ongoing part of a district’s overall strategy. What many educators don’t realize is that PD doesn’t have to be expensive or inconvenient.

In this issue, you can learn about SMART’s training offerings, funding opportunities that apply to PD and successful strategies that other educators have adopted to ensure that ongoing PD for using SMART products is a required and regular event.

You’re also invited to complete our annual reader survey on page 20. When you are done with the survey, you are eligible to win a SMART Document Camera for your classroom or school.

We hope you enjoy the May PD issue and that you discover new strategies for ongoing training that will enhance your use of SMART products.
